NFHC operates Flagstaff’s only gender inclusive shelter for unaccompanied children and youth. Our shelter has 15 beds for youth birth-17. Trauma informed care guides our advocacy and support philosophy. Services are available to runaway and homeless youth, and families in need of temporary relief when in crisis to allow space for problem solving and reduce the risk of youth running. Families and youth are able to refer themselves for runaway/homeless youth services. Youth involved with the Department of Child Safety and Arizona Office of the Courts also may be referred for services.
The Youth Shelter is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Youth Shelter services include:
- Advocacy
- Crisis Counseling & Trauma Therapy on-site
- Life-Skills Groups to develop autonomy
- Clothing, toiletries, food, transportation and school supplies
- Case Management to assist youth in identifying individual goals
- Connection to the community through recreational activities
